Manchester Adult Education Service
MAES has classes from Pre-entry to Level 1 in various locations across the city. The adult learning centres with ESOL courses are:

There is an opportunity to get qualifications on some courses. Courses are either two or four classes per week.

The Manchester college has ESOL classes from Pre-entry to Level 2.
The classes are at various locations across the city:

Courses are 12 hours per week, and learners can work to achieve qualifications in English, maths, employability and ICT.
Talk English Manchester runs ESOL sessions in community centres all over the city for Pre-entry and Entry 1 learners to help them gain confidence in speaking English, as well as to improve reading and writing skills. Classes are designed to encourage learners to access local services, explore local areas, and get more involved in their local community. There is also the opportunity to go on trips out to places such as art galleries, museums and libraries. The classes provide a friendly environment for people to practise English and meet new people.
Volunteering opportunities are also available for higher level learners.

The WEA Manchester helps students develop their English skills for all aspects of life and work. Courses range from Pre-entry to Level 2, where learners can achieve City and Guilds qualifications in ESOL, maths and English. Their information, advice and guidance service is an important part of all courses to help students find further learning and progression opportunities. Classes are hosted in community centres around Manchester, including Ardwick, Longsight, Levenshulme, Cheetham Hill, Crumpsall and Trafford.

Alexandria Library is a charity based on the Curry Mile, which provides free English classes for all levels. They have a range of classes, including English grammar for beginners, learning English through stories, and English conversation classes. Downstairs, there is a bookshop where you can find books in many languages, including English, Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, and many others.
Golden Centre of Opportunities

Golden Centre of Opportunities offers ESOL courses for Pre-Entry, Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3 students to help improve speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The centre also offers support to learners who are unemployed and looking for work, from building confidence and motivation, to compiling CVs and job searching. Opportunities for volunteering and work experience are also provided. Learners in employment can be given further support through a range of work related courses.

First Asian Support Trust (FAST) at Community Point Resource Centre in Manchester has been delivering provision within the local community in Manchester and the surrounding areas since 2003. The centre provides education and training in Pre-entry, Entry Level and Entry 1 ESOL, as well as digital and employment support for those who are socially excluded within the local community.

Community Revival aims to enable ESOL learners to develop their skills to find employment or make progress in their education. Classes run from Pre-entry to Level 2, where learners are given the opportunity to achieve qualifications in ESOL, English and maths. The college also offers intensive IELTS preparation classes for higher level learner looking to access higher education. The main college is in Chorlton, but additional classes are run throughout the city in different venues.
Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre
Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre provides free classes in Wythenshawe, to help ESOL learners to improve their English skills and make new friends. The classes are suitable for beginners or those that have an intermediate level of English. The classes run once a week in the evening.
Longsight Children’s Centre
Longsight Children’s Centre delivers a variety of courses for ESOL learners, including English, maths and ICT. The ESOL classes are from Pre-entry to Entry 2, and there are longer vocational courses for higher level learners. For people looking for work, the centre also provides opportunities for volunteering and employability courses.
Ardwick Children’s Centre
Ardwick Children’s Centre is a place where children under five and their families can access a wide range of support services and information. The centre delivers a variety of courses to benefit local families, including ESOL from Pre-entry to Entry 2. Learners are also provided with help and support to get into employment, which includes volunteering opportunities.

Cornerstone’s education programme provides high quality English, maths and ICT courses for asylum seekers and refugees in Manchester. They offer classes for ESOL learners from Pre-entry to Level 1, including Functional skills English and maths qualifications, in addition to IELTS intermediate and advanced courses .
Learners are also given the opportunity for one to one mentoring and tutoring sessions, conversation classes, music workshops, and also a hot meal every day after the lessons.
In addition, Cornerstone offers a range of services including housing support, help with form filling, information, advice and guidance, referrals to legal support, and emergency food parcels.
Wai Yin Society

Wai Yin Society specialises in providing education and social welfare services to communities in various centres across Manchester.
There is a focus on community based learning to engage learners, reduce isolation and develop self-confidence. Blended learning programmes are offered to embed ESOL with vocational activities so learners can enjoy learning English as well as integrating into the community and adapting to British culture.
They are also a Trinity Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) course provider and Trinity ESOL Skills for

Seetec Outsource aims to enhance all learners’ personal, social and emotional well-being by integrating them into our inclusive teaching and learning community. We are based in the Manchester City Centre in St Peters Square at Spaces.
Our main area of delivery is functional courses for ESOL learners (reading, writing, speaking & listening) but we also include vocational courses (British Values, Progression & Well-being and Employability). We also deliver Traineeships and vocational pathways such as Hospitality, Retail, Construction, Business Administration and Warehouse & Storage/FLT.
We deliver courses from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 in reading, writing, speaking & listening and all ESOL vocational courses are at EL3. Additionally, we provide L1 vocational pathways as stated above.

A&T Training provide short courses for learners who are looking to achieve ESOL and Functional Skills qualifications. There is a focus on developing learners’ skills to enable them to achieve a better future, in terms of career progression, apprenticeships or even further education.
St Aidan’s Centre
St Aidan’s Centre provide weekly conversational English sessions to empower ESOL students to increase confidence and aid integration. The aim of the classes are to bring people together from their local community and reduce isolation and loneliness. They also offer preparation services for Life The UK exam for learners with ESOL levels Entry 1 to Entry 3.
In addition, they run a “food bridge” to facilitate links between local people and asylum seekers by cooking each other meals, sharing stories and forming friendships.
Impact for All

Impact for All is a not for profit community organisation based in Longsight, providing support aimed at raising self confidence and motivation. They currently run a successful voluntary work club as well as mixed level ESOL sessions, in partnership with a private training provider based at the same premises. They also provide a mix of accredited Level 1 and unaccredited employability skills programmes for llocal residents. In house IAG support is also available to help service users with career related advice.

Enterprising Habits Ltd provide ESOL classes both online and face to face in community centres, such as Northmoor Community Centre in Longsight and Trinity House in Rusholme. The classes are aimed at students from Pre-Entry to Entry 3 to help them improve their language skills, gain confidence in speaking English, as well as to improve their reading and writing skills. Classes are designed to encourage and support learners to improve their employability skills, access local services, explore the local labour market, build a CV, job searches online and pursue volunteering opportunities. The classes are delivered in a friendly and safe environment for adults to learn and practice English and grow their network. Prizes are also given to high achievers such as gift vouchers, trips to local museums and a meal with others to celebrate their success.
