Trafford College

Trafford College delivers part-time ESOL courses in the daytime and evening at their Stretford campus. Lessons are usually once or twice a week. They offer courses to learners from Pre-entry up to Level 2. Learners work towards a recognised ESOL qualifications in all skills – Speaking & Listening, Reading, and Writing. They also offer part-time Maths and IT courses for ESOL learners.

Workers’ Educational Association (WEA)

The WEA Greater Manchester helps students develop their English skills for all aspects of life and work. Courses range from Pre-Entry to Level 2, where learners can achieve City and Guilds qualifications in ESOL, maths and English. Their information, advice and guidance service is an important part of all courses to help students find further learning and progression opportunities. Classes are hosted online on Zoom and in community centres around Trafford.
From September 2021, ESOL students at Entry levels 2 and 3 will be able to access their ESOL for carers courses. We also provide digital skills courses.

St John’s Centre offers a variety of ESOL courses suitable for a range of learners. They aim to provide a welcoming environment to provide the first step into adult learning. As well as their accredited courses in partnership with the WEA, they provide informal conversation groups which are open to all from Pre-entry level up to Level 1.
They also offer both accredited and non-accredited courses in other areas, including Basic Skills, digital skills, and community interpreting. They also alow learners access to their computers and help with online tasks, as well as food bank referrals and general COVID support. They are a venue for many community activities, which are open to everyone.

Based at The Hub Community Centre, near Sainsbury’s in Altrincham, The Hub English class provides a welcoming environment for people wanting to improve and gain confidence in their English skills, while learning more about UK culture. Classes are free, offered as part of The Hub Community Centre’s service to the community. Teachers are ESOL trained, delivering unaccredited courses at Elementary and Intermediate levels.
